Communities will be involved in their local schools’decision-making process. Through School
Community Councils, principals
will work directly with parents, students, teachers, school personnel, and community representatives to develop annual academic
and financial plans.
School Community Councils are elected advisory boards that will also develop and review new school policies,
focus on student achievement, and participate in the evaluation and selection of the school’s principal. To further encourage and support parent and community involvement, $1.7 million will be used to fund a part-time parent
facilitator at each school through the Parent-Community Networking Centers.
